At this time of economic crisis, the government is strengthening its financial assistance to businesses that recruit people with disabilities and young people. Explanations.
Recruiting a person with a disability
An employer who hires a person who is recognized as a disabled worker may be granted a maximum of € 4,000 over a year between September 1
- the employee must be recruited on a permanent contract or on a fixed-term contract of at least 3 months.
- the hourly remuneration stipulated in the contract must be less than or equal to twice the amount of the minimum wage, i.e. at 20.30 euros gross in 2020.
- the employee must not have been part of the company’s workforce under a contract not eligible for this assistance, between September 1
Hiring young persons under priority employment scheme
An employer who hires, within the framework of the priority employment scheme, an unemployed young person residing in poor neighborhoods defined under the Government’s urban policy, may receive a financial assistance.
In order to encourage the employment of young people in these neighborhoods, the government has increased its assistance for the employer who, between October 15, 2020 and January 31, 2021, enters into an employment contract with a young person under the age of 26 (or under 30 for persons with disabilities). The amount of the assistance will be:
- €17,000 over 3 years, for a permanent contract (€7,000 in the first year and €5,000 for the next two years), instead of the basic assistance of €15,000.
- € 8,000 over 2 years, for a fixed-term contract of at least 6 months (€5,500 in the first year and €2,500 in the second year), instead of the basic assistance of €5,000.
To get the financial assistance, the employer must file his application with the Job Centre within 3 months of the date of signing the employment contract.
The return of subsidized employment contracts
A company that recruits a young person under the age of 26, who faces specific challenges in finding work, receives, in return, state aid equal to 47% of the gross hourly rate of the minimum wage. To do this, the company must contact either the Job Centre, the “Missions Locales”
