Daily Allowances

Employees who are off work due to an accident or non-occupational illness receive daily allowances from Health Insurance. In line with its commitment to reducing public spending, the government has revised the calculation of the maximum amount for these allowances. This change will impact on the additional allowances owed by employers, which will consequently increase.

Long-term Short-time Work

Highlighted during the Covid-19 epidemic, short-time work allows employers, facing a decline in activity to reduce employees’ working hours or temporarily close their business. In such cases, employers pay their employees an allowance that is partially reimbursed by the State. Recently, employers with a permanent reduction in activity could utilize long-term partial activity (APLD(4)). However, this option is no longer available and will soon be replaced by the “long-term partial activity rebound” (APLD-R(5)). This new measure aims to assist employers in managing challenges posed by “exacerbated international competition, rising energy costs, and significant economic changes in certain sectors.”

Kbis Extract Scam

A few months ago, Infogreffe warned companies about the increasing prevalence of Kbis extract scams. This threat remains significant, as highlighted by the registries of commercial courts. It is crucial for business leaders to be vigilant and to verify the authenticity of their business partners’ Kbis extracts. In addition, it is advisable to regularly check that your own company’s information has not been fraudulently altered to prevent identity theft. To aid in this effort, France Num, the government portal for the digital transformation of companies, has recently updated its website with a practical guide for managers on how to protect themselves against K-bis fraud.

Monetization of RTT(6)

Employees working beyond the legal 35-hour week are entitled to rest days known as “reduced working hours” (RTT). To support the purchasing power of the French population, the authorities introduced a scheme on January 1st, 2022, allowing employees to monetize their RTT days. Originally, set to expire at the end of 2025, this scheme has now been extended until December 31, 2026.
