Shrinkflation
Shrinkflation is a process that has been used for some time by manufacturers of pre-packaged consumer goods to reduce the quantities of these products without reducing their price. To ensure that consumers are informed of this practice, which is legal but not necessarily visible, the regulations will now require store, selling predominantly food-based consumer products with a surface area of more than 400 m², to display, directly on the packaging of the products concerned or on a label attached or placed near the product, in a visible and legible manner, a statement stating: “For this product, the quantity sold has changed from xxx to xxx and its price at (specify the unit of measurement concerned) has increased by xxx% or by xxxx €”. This obligation will come into force on July 1
Validity of driving licenses
Some transport companies can now check the validity of their employees’ driving licenses. This possibility is now open to companies that carry out a public road transport activity of passengers or goods to check the validity of the driving license of their employees who drive motor vehicles. This includes, for example, bus companies, delivery companies, cash-in-transit companies, medical road transport companies, removal companies, road freight transport companies or companies for the rental of industrial vehicles with drivers for the transport of goods, tow trucks and taxis. The consultation is carried out online via an online service called Vérif Permis.
Donations of leave days
Employees will soon be able, with the agreement of their employer, to donate their unused paid leave and RTT days to certain associations and foundations. This waiver is made without compensation for the employee. In practice, the rest days given will be monetized and it will be up to the employer to pay the equivalent amount to the organization receiving the donation. The latter is chosen by mutual agreement between the employee and the employer. A decree has yet to specify the maximum number of rest days that can be the subject of this donation, knowing that employees will have to keep at least 24 working days of paid leave, i.e., 4 weeks. This decree will also have to determine the amount of monetization of these rest days.
Durability index
In recent years, certain electrical and electronic devices (smartphones, laptops, televisions, washing machines, electric lawnmowers, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, and pressure washers) have been required to be marketed with an indication of their repairability index. For certain categories of new electrical and electronic equipment, this repairability index will soon be replaced by a durability index whose purpose is to inform the consumer about the probable longevity of the product he plans to acquire. Initially, televisions placed on the market from January 7, 2025, and washing machines from April 7, 2025, will be affected.
