Under this scheme, the company must pay the employees, for each hour not worked, an advance payment equal at least to 70% of their gross hourly pay. The advance payments will then be reimbursed to the company by the State.

Therefore, it’s the State which ultimately pays the wages of employees within the framework of the partial unemployment scheme. The scheme provides that the employees will receive about 85% of their normal salary. Once the period of partial unemployment is over, they will get back to work in their company.

In practice, the company applies for the partial unemployment scheme with the administration within 30 days of its implementation. The application must be filed online. Upon filing, the company must indicate the number of employees concerned as well as the number of hours not worked by each of them. The administration is expected to respond within 48 hours. Once the authorization is given, the company will simply submit to the administration, on a monthly basis, its claim for reimbursement of the advance payments made to the employees during the period of implementation of the partial unemployment scheme.
